Everyday Beauty

When I moved up to the mountains my daughters convinced me to get Instagram on my smartphone. It would be a nice way to keep in touch with them, they said, but it might also be a good channel for my interest in photography. I’ve been taking pictures since I was a teenager, and here was a simple program for working with them as well as a platform for exchange with others.
I loved Instagram from the very beginning: the square form and all the little tools to enhance my photos – and discovering the amazing and marvelous pictures that others publish.
Quickly I started using Instagram as a kind of journal: I decided to find something beautiful along my way every single day. Something that I could share with others and that could convey my love for mountains, rivers and valleys, for flowers and animals, and what else crosses the paths of my life. Even on the most dull grey day there is some magic to be found if you look closely.
I guess that’s what I want to say with my little Instagram posts: beauty is always all around, we just have to open our eyes and hearts – and camera lenses! – to see it and to let it transform us.
