The Inner Judge vs The Fairy Godmother

One of the things I wanted to explore and develop during my sabbatical was Writing. As long as I remember I’ve had this urge to write, showing in letters, long essays at school, little notes all over the place…. but never anything more demanding.
However, despite my inner resolve and all the time in the world, I didn’t get far. OK, I took up journal, letter, and haiku writing, but nothing more “serious”. I made some drafts for book projects, but when it came to really go through with them – I let go. Why?
Actually, I recognise this hesitation and stopping from other situations, and the reason is my Inner Judge. For him, whatever I do is never relevant or good enough; “others have done it” or “others do it much better”. Well, he has been with me for far too long, and it’s high time to let him go.
Instead I welcome the Fairy Godmother. She believes in me, supports me, draws out abilities I didn’t even know I had. And sometimes, she even gives me magical powers!
So farewell, Inner Judge, and welcome, dear Fairy Godmother! You’ll help me to finally make the leap I need into The Writing World!

I have that feeling too, wish I could find my fairy godmother too. Good luck with your writing, looks very cosy with the candles 🙂
